Daily Devotional – 12/12/15 “Saturday prayer”

I don’t normally write a devotional on Saturday but as my husband said to me this morning, it’s needed. So, as I sit here at work (out of my norm), I just thought I’d stop through to encourage someone on today. You! Encourage you through whatever it is you’re facing, TODAY! I don’t know what you dealt with on last night and I surely can’t see what you’re face tomorrow but for right now, let me encourage you. No, I’m not going to say, it’ll be alright because it might and then it might not. I’m not about to tell you, God got you, because you know that. So, what I am going to do is pray.

Father,
As I petition your throne on this morning; let me first thank you. Thank you for the person reading this. Thank you God because they took the time for me to encourage them when I’m just somebody who was chosen by you for a time such as this. Now, God; I don’t know what each of them stand in need of; I’m simply going to ask you to do it for them. Somebody is headed to lay a loved one to rest. Somebody is up trying to figure out how to feed their family, with no money. Somebody is searching for a missing child. Someone is standing near the bedside of family or friend and the doctor is shaking his head. A pastor is knee bent trying to figure out how to serve in his or her assignment when saved folk is making it hard. A deacon is contemplating suicide. An usher is snorting her next vial of cocaine. A church member just woke up from a night of drinking. Somebody on the praise team is in the process of losing her house and her mind. Someone in the choir is being physically and mentally abused, right now. Somebody who is being looked up too is on the verge of losing his business. And someone in the world is fighting demons constantly. Oh God! Step in and deliver. Destroy chains of wickedness. Break strongholds and yokes of evil. Set free, dry tears, calm confusion, open shackles and restore! Do it God for your people. I stand in the gap, today calling on your name. I can’t call every name and every desire but you already know them. Do it for them, at this very moment. Do it for even me! We surrender God!

This prayer I submit, in faith that it will be done.

Amen”

Daily Devotional – 12/11/15 “It ends today!”

When I let go and I let God, let God have His way … Things started happening so I’m about to do it again. I’m letting go of wayward thinking children, I’m letting go of fear, I’m letting go of what I think, I’m letting go of ‘this may not be my time’ and I’m letting God. I’m letting God have His way. See, I found out that when I try to do it, I mess stuff up. When I try to figure things out, on my own; I end up adding in my carnal thoughts. When I try to take myself places, the doors won’t open. When I try to rise without God, there’s no fire in my hot air balloon. When I try to do it, it never works. So you know what, I surrender God!

And somebody on today is going through the same thing. You’re fighting in your sleep because the enemy is determined to not let you succeed. You’re fighting when you’re awake because so-called Saints are more conniving than the unsaved. You’re fighting on the job and then you got to fight at home too. You’re fighting with your finances trying to make them stretch. You’re fighting with the car, begging it to hold on. You’re fighting with sickness because it’s trying to win. And you’re asking, when will it end? Well, beloved … it ends today. Whatever you’re fighting with, the hell with it! “Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22” Baby, build you a spiritual fire and throw everything that you can’t fix in it and allow the aroma to make it to God’s nose and then let Him handle it. Don’t go another day in that depression of trying to figure it out by yourself. Don’t move another step without the guidance of the Lord. Don’t make another decision without God’s approval. Today is the last day you will be depressed, broken or suicidal. Today is the last day you shall be without. Today is the last day for you to fight alone. “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act. – Psalm 37:5” You can do it! YES YOU CAN! You can become it! YES YOU CAN! You can overcome it! YES YOU CAN! The negative thoughts, the tears, the fears, the addictions, the strongholds, the generational curses, the mistakes of your past, the ‘I can’t do it’ talk; it all ends today.

Say, “God, I surrender ALL” and mean it! Let go and let God and mean it!

Daily Devotional – 12/10/15 “A test of your strength!”

Today is better than yesterday, thank you Lord! For somebody, you can’t say that because it seems as if trouble has your name memorized. But know this; it’s just your time to go through. Please understand, the enemy feeds off your weakness and he is trying to make you think God has forgotten about you. But you know better, don’t you? The enemy is probably in your ear, sitting on the end of your bed, standing outside your door, texting you at this very moment or he or she may be who you’re sleeping with but don’t give in. He’s probably beckoning you, right now, to call your ex; steal from somebody, lie on folk, be petty and messy on Facebook, he has you going through folk’s phone, stalking their social media accounts, avoiding an issue you need to deal with or hating your own momma; GET UP! Folk has made you believe that it’s the man’s fault that you can’t get off state assistance; it’s yours! You got the nerve to take man at his word but you want to challenge God’s word. You have more respect for the club than you do your church (you’ll throw away your garbage there but you stick your candy paper on the pew).

Isn’t it something how we, as Saints of God, will have the mitigated gall to need validation of God’s promise but we take the promise of everybody else? I mean, we’ll give folk chance after chance but let God not show up when you want Him too, you’re ready to jump ship. But don’t you understand that there’s going to be some ups AND downs, some good AND some bad? If you never have to experience trials, suffering, let downs, knock downs, sickness, etc., how will you know how strong you are? You have to go through, some time. You have to endure; every now and then. It’s part of the process of living in these fleshly bodies. How would you know you can defeat the enemy if he never shows up? How can you know what you can overcome, if you never go through anything? You don’t realize the magnitude of your strength until it has to be used. A blind person wouldn’t know the strength of his hearing without the blindness. A mother wouldn’t understand her motherly strength until she has to fix dinner for six with $8. A widow(er) wouldn’t understand how to survive losing their spouse until it happens. And you couldn’t possibly know how you’d handle sickness until it comes. My point is, sometimes you have to go through. It’s not to take you out; it’s simply testing what you say you’re made of. Didn’t you say you were God’s child?

Daily Devotional – 12/9/15 “Chocolate or complaining”

My nerves are on level 10! My schedule has been changed to accommodate overtime in our department and the traffic getting to work was horrible. Add that with I didn’t sleep well, last night, due to a headache and well, you get the idea. I think I ask God for forgiveness fifteen times in a few minutes. Jesus! But you know what? It could be worse. So you know what I did? I went and bought some turtles pretzels from the bake sale and I ate them! Yep, I ate them for breakfast. See, I could walk around with a frown on my face, mad at the fact that it took me an hour to get to work but why would I do that when I made it, safe and sound. I could let the disaster of my morning ruin my entire day but then that would be my fault. Baby, I’m too cute to walk around frowning so I decided to let it go. I couldn’t do anything about the traffic but I can surely do something about my mood. And I did, I ate chocolate for breakfast.

So between last night and this morning, whatever happened, happened. Get over it! Our attitude depends on us. Do something about it. Stop walking around mad at the world. Stop choosing to be angry when you can choose to love instead. Get out of the funk you’re in and enjoy life. It’s not about the money you have or don’t have, the car you have or don’t have, the house you may or may not want but it’s all about the genuineness of your heart. Quit holding on to what somebody did or said about you. Let it go. Eat the chocolate, buy that pair of shoes, skip the gym, read that book, take that long bath, sing loudly out of key; do whatever you want to do. Just stop complaining. Don’t complain because your circumstance could be a lot worse. And the bible says in Philippians 2:13-15 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.” I have a choice, chocolate or complaining and I chose the chocolate. What about you?
