Daily Devotional – 10/20/16 “Can I pray for you?”

can-i-pray-for-youOur Father in Heaven whose name is the Holy of Holy.As I come petitioning your throne, I pause to say thank you. Not for one thing, exactly but for everything specifically. Oh God, your people are in need so I come asking you to send a particular blessing to the person reading this. Grant them the request they’ve been crying out for, the answer they’ve been searching for and the peace they’ve been needing. I know you’re a merciful God that can heal, deliver and set free so I ask you to show up, in the midst of their circumstance and do it. For that mother whose still grieving, comfort. The daddy who can’t seem to make it, provide. The sister on the verge of suicide, block it. The brother at the end of his rope, extend it. God, be the mind regulator, the heart fixer, the heavy load carrier, the food when they’re hungry, water when they’re thirsty, joy in a time of trouble, bridge over their troubled waters and a way out of darkness. God, even if they have to suffer, in this season, give them strength to sustain until it’s over. Even if they have to suffer, now, give them what they need to endure because God, someone is fighting a battle and it’s not even theirs. Somebody else is on the edge of give up but has yet to give it over to you. And someone is looking at a negative bank account and still has another week to go.

But today, I declare that nothing shall by any means destroy your children. God, by the power you’ve invested in me, I decree that chains are being destroyed as they read. Doors of bondage are being opened, now, and your child is about to walk free. Suicide, you won’t win. Depression, you can’t win because today, I am crying loud and sparing not the ears of the enemy. God, today, I am crying loud and sparing not the feelings of the enemy, for the freedom of your people. Today, I’m claiming victory for those who can’t for themselves. Do it for her God. Do it for him God. Do it for us God! Blow our minds and do what we need. God, I don’t need the details, I just need the deliverance. Thank you in advance because I believe that it’s being done. You gave me power and so I declare it so! In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, it shall be!

Amen

Daily Devotional – 10/19/16 “Last Call!”

“Last call!” This is usually what you hear in a restaurant and/or club not long before the bar closes. This is to ensure you get all the ‘spirits’ you need before closing time. Now, when the Holy Spirit gave me this word, early this morning, I didn’t understand at first. Yet, as I laid there and allowed it to soak within me, this is what I got.

Most of the time, we take God’s grace for granted as if there isn’t going to come a time when the “last call” will be heard. We, as Saints, don’t think about the fact that the “last call” can be shouted at anytime. Meaning, we’ve only got a short amount of time to get the ‘spirit’ before the book close. We continually play church, hiding behind traditions that aren’t saving anybody. We play with the spirituality of the spirit when we will shout yet not sow. We play with God’s word when we put a stipulation on which sin is greater than the next or who can preach and where. Will we have time to get ourselves together before the last call? Will we, get some act right, before the last call sounds?

I’m only asking because at some point, the playing will cease whether it be by choice or force. This will be when the play shouting will be overtaken by the snatch of the Holy Spirit, shifting your entire life! When you’ll find yourself running around the church and unable to stop yourself and when your dancing will need no music. This will be when the word of God will blow your mind. Scriptures like Hebrews 6:1-3, “So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.” It’s time we move into a new realm of teaching and preaching because the enemy has moved to a new realm of destroying God’s people. It’s time we grow up spiritually in order to get what we need in the spirit! And it’s my hope it happens before the last call!

Daily Devotional – 10/18/16 “Remove the mask!”

As the world prepares to celebrate Halloween, by dressing in costumes and masks, it makes me realize that a lot of us have been wearing masks, all year. Yea, if I shall tell the truth; there have been a lot of folk walking around under the disguise of a smile when you know good and well, you cry yourself to sleep every night. Some wear the mask of happiness, when in fact, you’re living in hell at home. Some wear a mask of sanity when you’re one cry away from depression. Some even have a mask of prestige when they know, if they miss one day of work, they won’t eat next week. There are folk who show up on Sunday with their shouting face on but one breakdown from suicide. Pastors who stand in front of congregations, Sunday after Sunday, with their mask on, only to be secretly tormented by demons of past and present.

When will we, as children of God, remove the masks? When will we own up to who we really are and stop running from the realness of it? You do know that you’ve got to admit your true faults before you can begin to get help, right? It’s not so that you can be judged but it’s so you can get your joy back. Aren’t you tired of wearing this mask? Aren’t you sick of being someone you’re not? Lying to live but really not living. Faking it until you make it but not surviving. Where is your faith? The faith that will sustain you, even when it feels like everything is going wrong. The faith that will give you the strength to stand even when the mask comes off. The bible says in Romans 5:2, “Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” But we can’t do this if we live under a sham of being someone we’re not. This is why it’s time to remove the mask. Who are you, really?

Daily Devotional – 10/14/16 “Our Manufacturer’s spare!”

In the majority of cars, there’s a spare tire placed in the trunk. This is because the manufacturers know or assume that a time may come when you’ll need it. They only give you one because it’s to be used for emergency purposes only. See, a spare tire isn’t made to driven on, long term. It’s only there to replace the bad tire until you can get the damaged tire fixed or repaired. Now, as I was on my way to work, in the rain, I thought about this. And then the Holy Spirit said to me, our manufacturer is better than that. You didn’t know? Well, when God made us, He made us with spares because He knew there’d come a time when we would need it. A time we would become damaged. A time we may get low and unmovable. A time we’d break down and in need of the spare. So He, our manufacturer, ensures that our spare will be there when we need it. Oh but the good thing about our manufacturer, He made our spare to be used more than once. He made it so that if we just happen to need it long term, it’ll work. This is why you can be damaged and still used. This is why although you break down, you can still go.

Aren’t you glad, this day that our manufacturer, God, didn’t stop at just one spare? Aren’t you excited that our manufacturer, God, didn’t make our spare for just short term use? And aren’t you glad that He doesn’t charge us to replace the spare? I don’t know about you but there’s been some times in my life, I wasn’t even worthy of the spare yet when I looked up I saw the lights behind me which meant, my help had shown up. Yea, there have been some times when my manufacturer should have said, you’ve used up all your spares but instead He said “I’m on the way daughter.” Baby, there was some times when I found myself needing help for the spare. You know those times God showed up and got me out of the enemy’s camp even though I told Him I wouldn’t go again but I did? Those times I promised Him I wouldn’t do it again but I did. And He simply showed up with the spare, replacing my damaged parts, saying, “Daughter, your sins are forgiven.” Anybody else been there? Standing on the side of the road trying to figure out if you should call for help or try to fix it yourself only to see help coming? Anybody else got a “Thank you God for sparing me” praise? Can anybody else say like David in Psalm 30:3, “You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit?” Anybody?
