New Book – I’m Not Crazy

Imagine waking up one day different. You can’t explain it, but something just isn’t right. One minute you’re happy and the next sad. One moment you’re loving and the next angry. The voices you hear, the different moods you experience and the sad looks in people’s eyes makes you wonder if you’re losing your mind.

For Savannah Graft, she’s been dealt some heavy blows in her lifetime, but has managed to overcome them. Now, happily married to her husband, Pastor Shane Graft, mother to Kennedi and Baby Shane, First Lady of Victory Temple and the owner of SG Graphics; life is good.

Until one morning, she woke up different. She isn’t herself, yet she can’t see it. She recognizes something is wrong, but she can’t explain it. All she knows and continually says, I’m not crazy. Truthfully, she isn’t she’s depressed.

In this book, we begin a conversation to peel back the layers of postpartum depression, in the home and in the church. Although this is a work of fiction, every day somebody is dealing with the effects of mental illness and depression. In the church they tell you to pray and fast more. In the world, people say you’ll be okay, but how do they know.

Read Savannah’s story to see if she finally admits to needing help or will she continually hide from fear of herself, judgment or ridicule.

I’m Not Crazy is now available for download on Amazon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. Paperback version will be available soon.

Synopsis:

What do you do when you’ve lost your baby and your faith at 2:32 AM?

The bible tells you how to fight the enemy but what do you do when it feels like it is God you’re up against?

Charlotte’s nightmare began at 2:32AM, the morning she experienced the most unimaginable pain ever, the loss of a child.

Now, she finds herself angry at God. She trusted Him and He took her only child. She prayed to Him and it seems as if He has turned His back on her. And if things could not get worse, hell keeps showing up at her door.

What can she do, when she continually cries in the darkness but gets no answer? Where can she turn when it feels like her back is against the wall and there is no way out? Who can she depend on if God let her down?

Questions Charlotte ponder when the memories snatch her from her sleep at 2:32AM. Questions that make her angry because to her, God has forsaken them.

In four days …

In four days, I’m stepping out on faith and out of my comfort zone to do something God gave me last year. I’m hosting my very first ministerial event called Surviving Me. If you follow me on social media then you’ve seen the posts, but I wanted to share it here, for two reasons. One, so you’ll know and two, to encourage somebody to trust God and do it. Yes, it may be scary but if He gave you the plans; He’ll also provide the people, place, provisions, protection and peace.

See, I never had intentions of doing this because Surviving Me was only a scene in my book Broken but then I started getting messages about it and God wouldn’t leave me alone. I wrote it on a sticky note and pinned it to the wall in my Prayer Room and left it. God was still tugging at my heart, so I told Him, if this is meant, you make the way. Be careful what you tell God (LOL).

A little about Surviving Me. God and I are calling this, A Night of Worship: Divorce Edition because it’s designed almost like a divorce trial where we, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, prayer, song and God’s word; will divorce everything that causes us to abandon or abort our purpose. It is our prayer, that through this service, we divorce flesh and marry spirit. We divorce anger, bitterness, low self-esteem etc. to become who God has called us to be. Because let’s face it, sometimes, we’re our own worst enemy.

For this night, there is no cost and no registration fee; only a night of worship. There will be three speakers. Rev. LoTarsha Dillard, Arbeny Hunter and myself. There will also be prayer, praise and worship, a welcome and solo. I’ve scheduled two hours but fully intending to allow God to have total control.

Am I nervous? Yes, but not fearful because God gave me the vision and I trust Him enough to go forth, believing He’s going to see it through. I believe He’s going to prick the hearts of those who need to be in attendance and even those who He’ll send to sow into it. In other words, I’M BELIEVING and TRUSTING GOD. Y’all, I never want to be in the spotlight, but I know this event is not about me. It’s for some young lady who will be in the midst. It’s for somebody’s sister who is on the verge of giving up, but they won’t because their sister will come home telling them about #SurvivingMe. It’s for a mother, pastor, preacher, first lady, teacher, CEO, educator, guidance counselor, therapist, janitorial worker, warehouse worker, forklift driver, business owner, author, nurse, doctor, fire fighter, EMT, pilot, manager, etc. who feels hopeless, lost and their faith is falling.

Together, we’re SURVIVING ME!

If you’re in Memphis or surrounding areas, join us. If you are unable to attend, please send your prayers and if you would like to sow a seed, you may do so via cashapp ($RevKisha) or paypal.me/authorlakisha. If you’d like to order a Surviving Me Journal, click here or for any questions, you may reach me at authorlakisha@gmail.com.

TENSE — The Past | The Present | The Future

What’s it about? 👇🏽

For these friends, the past year holds memories, some they’d like to forget instead and others they’ll always remember.

They’ve experienced all kinds of things but with each other, their families, prayer, and God; they’ve made it through 2019, to the month of December.

But not every relationship salvaged will make it to the future.

In this Holiday Short Story, Special Edition of When the Vows Break, you’ll get to peek into the lives of these friends and see how they’re spending their Christmas holiday. Will the past they’ve endured affect their present, attempting to shatter their future? Or has the past given them instruction to treasure the present while preparing for the future? You’ll have to read to find out.

Shattered: Cam vs. Camille

Camille has spent the last 18 years fighting herself. A tragic event changed who she was and from that point forward it became Cam vs. Camille.

Cam is the woman who gets what she wants, doesn’t think she’s hurting anybody, put together, no nonsense and unapologetic. If she hurts you, you’ll apologize before her. She is who she is.

VS.

Camille is the attorney, the one who can rock 5 inch heels, the business suits, friends and family can count on, handling everything thrown her way but when the lights are off; she’s shattered and bleeding.

Camille’s journey in Shattered is one of brokenness, pain, low self esteem, anger, bitterness and everything else. The shattered remnants of her life are so entangled in her soul, that no matter how much she tries to release them, they are hard to let go.

Until she meets Dr. Melody Scott who ain’t taking excuses. She’ll get you together and then pray for you. She invites Camille to join her at a place she calls The Sobriety House, for the Hagar Experience. A weekend of detoxing and dealing with the things that caused you to run. Dr. Scott tells her, in order to begin the healing, she’ll have to GO BACK to the place that broke her.

Have you read Shattered?
