A Secret Worth Keeping by Lakisha Johnson

Shelby is a career woman turned housewife who enjoys the friendships that have been built with her 5 best friends; Camille, Lynesha, Raylin, Kerri and Chloe. They are all career women with different businesses or careers, husbands and even children but something is missing, something they can’t find at home, in a store or even in a book. So, they search for this missing piece in the beds, arms, cars, offices and even in storage rooms of other men who don’t mind paying for what Dem Dam Divas can offer. They enjoy the thrill of sneaking, creeping and even vacationing on someone else’s dime but what happens when it all becomes too much? From being found guilty with no evidence, secretly wanting someone who doesn’t want you, loving only to not be loved back, caught up in a dream that you’re about to be awaken from; will it be worth it in the end? Will their secret lives be revealed and will it become too much to handle? Will they regret their actions or stand by them? Will they finally question whether this secret is really worth keeping?

Excerpt:

Ray

“Good morning, Ray; Mr. Johnson is waiting to see you in his office.”

Thanks Ashley, I said. I knocked on the door that was already slightly open. “Hey, you wanted to see me?” He motioned for me to come in while he finished up a call. Once he hung up, he looked at me with the slight hint of an attitude and said, “Yea, since I didn’t hear from you this weekend!”

“Oh, do I detect an attitude? Seeing that I am not your wife, I don’t have to check in.”

He said, “You may not be my wife but I pay you like you are!”

“Yea, you pay because it’s worth every dollar and I do the things your wife doesn’t. Now, if you don’t want anything I have some work to do.”

He grabbed me by the arm before I could move and pushed me up against his desk. He pushed the intercom, “Yes, Mr. Johnson;” said Ashley.

“Ray and I will be busy for the next 30 minutes, no interruptions!” he barked.

“Yes sir,” she said.

He pushed up my pencil skirt and ran his fingers between my legs, surprised that I had no panties on as he hurriedly tried to undo his pants.

“Slow down baby, she ain’t going nowhere.”

“I know but dam, she’s so hot and wet!” he said.

“Yea I know but remember we are at work and I don’t need you screaming like a girl!”

He laughed and said, “Then put something in my mouth to shut me up.” I, of course obliged.

I pulled my skirt the rest of the way up, pushed myself back on his desk and spread my legs wide enough for his head to nestle right in between them. I wanted him to get all the glory of my freshly shaved candy box and his tongue hit the bull’s eye on the first try and I was in Heaven. He parted my lips and sucked like he was trying to find how many licks until he got to the tootsie roll center!

“Oh my God!” is all I could say as I grabbed this man by the head. As I begin to have an orgasm out of this world, he stood and I took every inch of his long, thick cock as I wrapped my legs around his back. I put my hands on his ass and I pushed until I made sure I had it all.

“Dam girl!” he said as I laid back a little further to make sure he was feeling every bit of me. Oh, don’t get me wrong; I love this sex but I won’t let him see it. I grabbed his arms and rocked with him until we both came together.

“Baby, you will make a man sign over his company for that shit!”

“Yea, I know. Consider that a thank you for our trip this weekend,” I said as I walked out passed Ashley smiling before he even had a chance to respond.

Get to know Lakisha:

1. Who is Lakisha Johnson?

I am a 36 year old young lady, who is married with 2 children. I am the product of a large crazy family and I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I am always on the go but I find time to write and read, which are 2 hobbies I love.

2. What made you want to become an author?

Writing or becoming an author isn’t something I set out to do but it is something that I’ve now found, I am destined to do. Writing is a passion and a gift that God has blessed me with and because of that it has become something greater than I could have ever imagined which is why I can now call myself an author.

3. Is this your first book and do you see yourself writing anymore?

No, this isn’t my first book but it is my first published book. My first book is a self-published book that is entitled, “Doses of Devotion” and it’s simply a book of encouragement. Yes, I do see myself writing many more books because this is only the beginning for me.

4. Why did you choose to write a fiction after a devotional?

It was actually a spur of the moment thing. I was sitting at home one night looking at some recent pictures from a sleepover with my sisters and aunt and this idea popped in my head. So, I grabbed my computer and began writing and it was fairly easy because I took some of the personality traits from my sisters, aunt and friends and the words just begin to flow.

5. Why did you choose the name, “A Secret Worth Keeping?”

I chose this title because everyone is always eager to hear a secret. I know it may be hard to believe but if you want to grab anyone’s attention; call, text or email them and tell them you have a secret to share and they will drop everything to hear it.

6. Is this book based on real life events?

No, everything that is in this book is my imagination. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am sure there are a lot of women who can relate, who have probably been in one of these situations or know someone who has but no, this isn’t based on real life.

7. What do you want your readers to get out of this book?

That a secret can bring complete chaos in any situation so choose your secrets or even the secrets you want to keep wisely because at any given time, they can blow up in your face.

Daily Devotional – 10/1/13 “It’s just your time!”

You might be standing on the edge of your dilemma and it feels as if you’re about to tumble over because when you look around all you see is darkness and you can’t really tell if it is day or night. You’ve prayed and paced about the situation and it seems like your answer won’t come. Yea, you’ve heard that “Weeping might endure for a night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5)”, but you’re wondering where your morning is. You can’t eat because you are full from drinking your tears and you keep asking will they ever stop or will your tear stain face bear witness to the pain you are feeling inside? Well, let me share with you Psalm 126:5 that states, “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” Oh, but hold on, that’s not all, because I simply stopped by to bother you for just a minute to let you know that it’s just your time. It’s just your time to go through your storm. It’s just your time to go through your sickness. It’s just your time to suffer for a little while. It’s just your time to cry. It’s just your time.

Yea, the storm may get hard and it may even knock you down but as long as you stay rooted in God, you’ll regrow. It’s like a house that is blown away in a tornado yet what remains after the storm is the foundation because it’s solid and unbreakable. Well, when you’re attached to God’s tree of life, you may swing like a branch in the wind but you won’t break. Your leaves may drop off but as long as you hold on, you won’t. You may get knocked against some things that cause you to have a few scars on your branch but that’s just evidence that you’ve been through but came out. Oh, you may shed tears but they are simply watering the harvest that you shall soon reap. So go on and cry for when harvest time comes, you won’t shed anymore because you’ve sown enough to last you through that season. So, hold on; it’s just your time for when you come out you can say, my eyes have been swollen from crying and tear stains on my face but I’m stronger. Yes, my back has been bent and sometimes I can hardly stand but I’m not out! Yes, sometimes my shoulders are bogged down with the burdens of this world, but I’m still walking. Yes, I’ve been knocked down but not knocked out so I’m wiser. Yes, I’ve been lied on and I got scars on my knees from being dragged through the mud but it made me stronger. Yes, I’ve got a scar on my back from being stabbed from so-called friends, but I’m not bitter. Yes, my heart has been broke but it’s being repaired by Dr. Jesus so I’ll love again. Yea, you counted me out but God counts me in. You may call me names but God simply calls me. I may have been an addict but then God saved me and made me anointed. I may have been depressed but God filled me and now I’m delivered and devoted. You may have even called me unworthy but God simply calls me qualified. So, don’t give up; it’s just your time.

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit! Romans 5:3-5 (The Message Bible)

Daily Devotional – 9/30/13 “Choose a side!”

In the red corner we have a man who offers temptations, hate, conflict, tears, pain and suffering, stuff that tears you down, people who stab you in the back, who try to speak death in your life, dig an early grave for you and then will throw dirt on you when you fall, people who like to see you down and out, those who laugh when you ask for help and take joy in seeing the tears you shed. He doesn’t have any wins under his belt but he puts up a hell of a fight. He likes to hit below the belt or when you’re off balance and even goes in for the kill when he thinks you’re almost out. Yes ladies and gentleman, in this corner fighting for his first victory … “The Enemy.”

In the white corner we have the undefeated, undeniable champion who has won all His battles by way of knock out. He has faced this opponent many times and each time the white corner is victorious because He allows the enemy to throw all the punches until he eventually gets tired. Yea, sometimes, He has to go all 10 rounds but that’s because not all battles are easy to win, yet, He doesn’t waver in the ring because He has strength that endures. He doesn’t have to take a timeout to regroup because He has a trainer that taught Him well and prepared Him in advance. He doesn’t need an entourage of folks around him because He found that those closest to you can be your enemy. He doesn’t need to vitamins just vigilant vessels. He doesn’t need an energy drink but eager workers! Yes ladies and gentleman, I introduce you to this Man, Jesus.

Now as you stand in the middle, choose your side. The red side offers death but the white side gives life. The red side offers sleepless nights but the white side gives rest. The red side gives storms but the white side gives shelter during the storm. The red side gives heartache but the white side gives mercy. The red side gives sickness but the white side gives healing. The red side gives pain but the white side turns it into praise. The red side gives suffering while the white side gives salvation. The red side gives grief but the white side gives grace. So, whose side will you choose? Now the red side will make it look like it is all roses until you reach for the stem and get pricked with a thorn and he will even make all your days look sunny until you leave the house with no umbrella. Yea, there are some bad days on the white side but Jesus has promised that on your darkest days, He’ll be there, when you ask of Him, he will come and when you can no longer stand, He’ll carry you. So, whose side will you choose?

“If you think it is wrong to serve the Lord, choose today whom you will serve. Choose the gods your fathers worshiped on the other side of the river, or choose the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
