I’m Lakisha, a preacher of God’s word who still, sometime, cuss, I still make mistakes, I still sin, sometimes; I stay up later than I should, I procrastinate on some things, when I get mad I shut down, I don’t like to argue, I have tattoos, I love preaching, teaching, going to worship service and studying God’s word, I absolutely love my family and friends and I write fiction books about sex. I’m not perfect but guess what … God still loves me! God still uses me! God still finds favor in me! God still deems me worthy! God still counts me as His! And I’m still blessed in spite of what man thinks! I know who I am!! #Godschosen

Be blessed!
Lakisha

Daily Devotional – 10/29/15 “Don’t stop praying!”

It doesn’t matter what your circumstance, situation, trial or tribulation is, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re in a good place right now, everything is going great, you have the job of your dreams, family acting as if they like you and you just got the blessing you’ve been waiting on, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re sick and the doctors looking grim, pain in your body is slowing you down, family member is sick, daddy or momma may be gone and you can’t seem to get relief, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re well now, that sickness has come and gone, headaches have stopped, blood pressure is down, heart has been regulated and all seems to be good, don’t stop praying! Whether you are in a good or bad place, don’t stop praying. Regardless if you’re having trouble at your place of worship or not, don’t stop praying. It doesn’t matter that folk are affecting your assignment, don’t stop praying. Whatever it is, don’t stop praying!

Why not? Because the bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing,” but you know that already don’t you? Then why aren’t you praying? You don’t have to fight when folk talk about, when they do you wrong, when they keep being messy; God got it, don’t stop praying! And if you don’t know how to pray, try this … You don’t need long drawn out words, rambling thoughts or even 30 minutes; you just need to converse with your Father for the bible says in Matthew 6:7-8, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” God already knows, we just need to petition His throne. And Matthew 6:9-13 says, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” KJV ends, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.” Don’t stop praying. Even if you can’t see what’s in front of you and you are scared to move; don’t stop praying.

Daily Devotional – 10/28/15 “Are you ashamed?”

Why is it that we, as Saints of God, can’t have an opinion without trying to sound holier than thou? Why is it that as Saints of God, we back down from our biblical thoughts to keep from ruffling the world’s feathers? Why is it hard to accept something coming from the man or woman in the pulpit but not from folk in the streets? I mean we get all bent out of shape when the pastor or preacher teaches the truth because we don’t want to hear it. Ma’am, sir; I don’t know if you’ve realized this yet but um … it’s time out for sugar-coating the word of God to appease folk’s feelings. It’s time out for worrying about if someone will think you’re talking about them. It’s time we start telling folk the truth. Yes sir, yes ma’am; you might be going to hell if you aren’t living right. Brother Deacon, God isn’t pleased with the lackadaisical praying you’ve being doing. Sister choir member, God won’t bless your mess simply because you get up to sing yet your heart is full of hate. Dear usher, God isn’t pleased with your service every time you stand in judgment of folk. Pastor, God surely isn’t delighted with the half service you’ve been giving. Oh member, yes God knows your heart but that doesn’t mean He is accepting of you coming to church only to stay on your phone the entire time.

When will we, as God’s chosen, get to being about God’s business? Yea, I saw that scripture you posted but do you even understand it? Yes, I see you going to worship but how’s your witnessing? Yea, I see you acting loving towards folk but how’s your living? Please understand; you don’t have to defend your biblical views, assignment, favor, calling or ministry work to folk but it should match with how you’re living. God should be seen in every aspect of your life and not just on Sunday. Of course, we all make mistakes but don’t allow them to stop you from being who you are. Don’t allow folk’s views to shape you into something other than whom you are. I choose God because He chose me (flaws and all). I love God because He loves me (mistakes and all). I get that some folk may not like me anymore, I’m okay with that. Who will you choose? Who are you rolling with? Don’t allow your opinion to change because people start chiming in. Be who you are called to be and don’t be ashamed of it. For the bible says in Mark 8:38, “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Yea, she has always proclaimed to be “unapologetically Cam” but when it seems like the world around her is beginning to tumble down, she has to face some real truths about whom she really is and who she wants to be.

Doses of DevotionDoses of Devotion –“Although your problems come with pain, the pain is proving that you’re not perfect but yet a person who God has picked to be placed at this point and through prayer you’ll be prescribed a promise of praise that allows you to be purified and through this purification process you’ll prosper and through your prosperity you’ll get power and with this power you’ll get God’s protection that allows you to prevail and once you prevail, you’ll have the patience to pursue your purpose.”

I didn’t write this book to tell you that each day will be easy because then I’d be selling you a dream however, I simply stopped to give you some encouragement.

Yes, this journey is hard but if everything was easy would you appreciate your struggle in overcoming? I don’t have all the answers but I can promise you a Master who has never lost a case. I get it, you may be in your struggle; right now but it’s only making you stronger, strengthening the weak places need to make your transition to greater.

— Don’t shortchange your struggle because without it, you wouldn’t be as strong as you are!

Daily Devotional – 10/27/15 “Would you pass inspection?”

You’ve heard the saying, we (as in Saints of God) are the church, haven’t you? Well the bible shares with us in 1 Peter 2:5 this, “And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.” This lets me know that we are the bricks that make up the church of God. It doesn’t matter what shape you are, what color you happen to be and where you are placed; as long as you are usable in the building of God’s kingdom. See, God is the chief cornerstone which means He is the foundation (the concrete) that is laid with the 4 corners that connects the walls of the church. We, Saints of God, are the brick (bible says living stones) that are used in the building of the church thus making us important. Now, I have to ask the question … Would you pass inspection. If God had to look you over to see if you can be used in the kingdom, would you make the cut?

God is our foundation (He should be) so we know this would pass but what about everything else? Would your outer appearance (although it may have a few scratches and dents from everyday use) pass? Is it inviting to the unsaved? Would someone want to get to know the God you serve by looking at you? Would your inside be clean in order enough to pass inspection? If God looked, would He see something worth using in you or will your mouth and heart keep you out of commission? Would you pass inspection? I mean, if God is our overseer that makes Him our code enforcement officer, doesn’t it? Well, if He just happened to pop up for inspection to see if we should be used, would we pass? If He had to check what comes out of our mouth, would we pass? If He had to check how we serve, would we pass? Oh, don’t be put in the discard pile for the bible says in 1 Peter 2:8, “They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.” But it doesn’t end there because 1 Peter 2:9 picks up and says, “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” Are you usable? Would you pass inspection?
