A Little Encouragement – 7/1/19 — YOU GOT THIS!

I haven’t been lead to share a devotional, in the last few weeks but it doesn’t mean I’m not praying. This past week, when I took some time away from social media, I decided to create a prayer room. Notice, I didn’t say my prayer room because it is my desire for everybody in the house to use it (even though it has pink pillows in it .. LOL). See, I realize that being attached to social media can get overwhelming and tiring so I wanted to encourage somebody.

Do you! Be you! Love you! Laugh at you! Challenge you! Encourage you! Embrace you! Comfort you! CHOOSE YOU!

In other words, don’t allow anyone else expectation of you to be the driving force behind what you do. When you do, you set yourself up to be disappointment if you happen to fail. See, social media got some of y’all thinking you’re supposed to be married by now, with the baby and the big house, the foreign car, the expensive wig, the designer clothes and shoes and the 6 figure job but reality is … if you’re happily single, celebrate it. If you stay with your momma, 2 roommates or a cat; celebrate it. If you got to put water in your radiator, every day just to make it to work and home, celebrate your car. If you’re like me and will rock a $7.50 jumper from Family Dollar, celebrate it. And whatever your job is at the moment, celebrate it.

Ma’am, sir .. your purpose is your purpose and just because you haven’t fully blossomed yet, it doesn’t mean you won’t. However, you can’t give up during the season of sowing because then you won’t have nothing to harvest.

YOU GOT THIS!

Dear sister,

Dear sister,

I apologize for being the bearer of this gut wrenching news but …. You cannot be mad at ALL men simply because you’ve made the mistake of choosing ALL the wrong ones. In other words, stop making all men pay for the mistakes of a mistake.

Here’s the part that may hurt, even more … take some time to heal! You can’t do this running from relationship to relationship. Find YOU, love YOU and believe in YOU first before you give yourself to anybody, other than God. This means, you may have to spend some time by yourself and be okay with it.

Take yourself out – if you can’t spend time with self, you definitely can’t spend time with somebody else.

Boost your own confidence – If you don’t believe in you, how can you convince somebody else?

Love you – If you don’t know how to love you, how will you know when someone else does?

Not all men are bad and the one meant for you, will find you when you stop sabotaging you.

Sincerely,
A concerned sister who wants you to be happy.

2. 2:32AM

Charlotte feels as though her faith is being tested when her daughter dies, suddenly. She can’t make sense of the suffering, she’s having to endure so it causes her to lose her faith.

3. Chased

Pastor Magnolia Wright has been given an opportunity to serve God’s people but she’s fearful. Fearful of the thing that keeps chasing her … Her Past. Sure, she can preach God’s message, lay hands and pray for others but what happens when she’s the one in need?

4. Broken

Gwendolyn’s heart is used to being broken, by men. It started when her dad walked out when she was 13. Then she meets Jacque and his love was the thing she needed to mend her heart. Until he broke it. Now, she finds herself spiraling and she needs help.

All four of these books are written, from a place of hope and restoration. It is my prayer, you will find the courage to be healed and made whole, while not losing your faith in God.

Daily Devotional – 6/17/19 “Blooming time!”

My grandmother loves gardening, whether it’s flowers or vegetables, she’s always been able to grow whatever. However, there’d be times I’d see her pruning a plant or flower that looked dead, to me. She’d be breaking up the soil, adding water and clipping dead leaves and the entire time I’m saying, “why is she dealing with that dead stuff.” Here’s what I grew to realize. It looked dead to me because I wasn’t trained to know, it wasn’t that plant’s season to bloom. Grams knew therefore, she’d spend time pruning and preparing a plant, I thought was dead. And somebody, you’re looking at the seeds you’ve planted and trying to figure out why, although they’re growing, they look dead – it isn’t blooming time yet. You’re trying to understand why you aren’t receiving any of the things you’ve been asking God for – it isn’t blooming time yet. Yea, I know you’re tired and thinking about giving up but stay grounded. See, had grandma bothered those flowers, that looked dead to me, she would have disturbed their roots, risking their chance of blooming. So, you beloved, stay grounded and don’t disturb your roots. There’s something going on, inside, that’s setting you up for blooming time.

Yes, to the untrained eye it may look dead, but we serve a God who can breathe life into dry bones and they’ll live. All you must do is hold on and trust God’s harvesting schedule. I know you’re looking at your checking account and thinking about another check advance but wait, don’t disturb the roots. You’re looking at the circumstances and want to reply to that text but wait, don’t disturb the roots. I know you’re anxious but beloved, a flower knows when to bloom because of a gene that’s within them. It tells them, “Wake up, it’s time to bloom,” and the plant starts making leaves/flowers. You’ve been blessed with a gene, too, it’s called the Holy Spirit and when it’s time, He’ll shake you and say, “Get up, it’s time to bloom.” Bloom, a verb that means, “to mature into achievement of one’s potential.” I know you’re tired but wait because in due time, the Holy spirit will tap you and say, “Get up son/daughter, its blooming time.” If you wait, until blooming time, you’ll see the evidence of God manifesting. Doors, you didn’t knock on, will start opening. Things you didn’t ask for, you’ll receive. You’ll be extended invitations by folk you didn’t even know knew you. Your ministry will overflow, and you’ll stand in places you’ve only dreamt of … IN YOUR SEASON OF BLOOM. Stop rushing the process because if you bloom too early, you could do more harm than good. Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Daily Devotional – 6/7/19 “Remove the sign!”

In my book, Dear God: Hear My Prayer, I shared a message about the Do Not Disturb Sign. In this message, I wanted you to know that when you surrender to God, you remove the block you’ve placed on Him. A block that is like placing a Do Not Disturb sign on your hotel room door. If the sign is there, the housekeeper can’t come in and do what he or she has a responsibility to do. When this happens, you choose to keep whatever trash, dirty towels and unchanged bed sheets that have accumulated during your stay. However, when the sign is removed, the housekeeper is then able to remove the trash, give you clean towels, change the dirty linens and make your room habitable again. For somebody, today, it’s time you remove the Do Not Disturb sign from your heart and let God in. I know, you’re looking at the mess and you’re embarrassed but baby, God is there to clean, not to condemn. Sure, you allowed things to get out of hand and you’re afraid of the damage that has been done. You’re thinking about how much, this is going to possibly cost you because it’s your name on the bill but beloved, it’s already paid.

All God needs is for you to open the door and give Him permission to do what He promised He would. Aren’t you tired of living in the dirty conditions? Aren’t you tired of trying to make the trash smell good? Are you not tired of throwing stuff under beds and in closets? Are you not tired of sleeping in a dirty bed and covering up with a blanket of burdens? What I mean is, aren’t you tired of masking the stench of bad relationships that plague us like the smell of unemptied garbage cans, the stink of soul ties that cling to us like dirty linens, the addictions that linger like a ring around the tub or the dishonest decisions that hurt us as much as a bill for a damaged hotel room. If you are, then it’s time you remove the sign and let the housekeeper in by declaring like David in Psalm 51:2, “Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin,” (‘Throughly’ is spelled this way in King James means in a way that penetrates fully and completely). If you don’t, you do realize, the housekeeper will keep passing your room, right? As long as the sign is there, He’ll continually walk by because He can’t force you to receive what comes along with the accommodations of choosing Him. Will you remove the sign and let God in?

Psalm 32:5, “I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.”
