Daily Devotional – 5/24/17 “God’s staffing agency!”

Sometimes you will be placed into a position, a community, a worship place, a relationship or even on a job to be used as a reminder that God is still God. Look, God will place a pastor into a position to get his/her feelings hurt daily only for him/her to leave with a smile and more than he/she came with. God will place you on a job, in the midst of hellish folk and you will show up every day smiling while your salary increases year after year. God will send you back to school without a clue how tuition is going to be paid just to show somebody, who is secretly watching you, that He is a wonder worker. God will allow you to survive stage 4 cancer, 20% kidney function, high blood pressure, tumors, stroke and heart attacks because of somebody who is battling with not believing He can heal. God will connect you to some folk publicly, who don’t even like you, simply because they prayed privately for your downfall. Beloved, God will send you an invitation to a closed event because somebody whispered, you don’t belong there.

God has a way of making your enemy shame before you. Those same ones who tried to curse your gift will be the one paying double your fee. The one who told you, you would never preach in “their” pulpit will be the one calling on you to pray them out of the enemy’s hands. The ones who said you would never get approved for the house will be the ones asking you for advice on how they can get one too. The ones who said you’d never make it out the ghetto, will be the very one using you for a reference. That same girl who left because you could only afford to fix cars in the backyard, opened the door for your wife who wrote the plan for your new business. That dude that left when you gained a little weight, will be the one calling when he sees your Facebook status change from “it’s complicated” to “in a relationship with.” Those who counted you out will be the very ones texting “hey” when they see surviving. This is why you cannot downplay where you are, at this moment. Yes, I know you are tired of being in this place and it seems like no matter what you do, you can’t move but trust God’s placement. If your prayers are plentiful, your devotion is dedicated, your service is steadfast, your fasting is faithful and your worship is whole; God will do what He promises. For His word says in Isaiah 41:10, “I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
