Daily Devotional – 8/21/15 “This accessory may not be supported!”

Have you ever purchased a cheap charger only to plug it in to get the error message, “this accessory may not be supported?” Welp, I can imagine our spirit saying the same thing when we plug some of the stuff into us that we know good and well, don’t belong. Yea, I can just hear our spirits screaming, “accessory not supported,” every time we hook up to somebody we ain’t got any business intertwining our spirit with. I can just bet our spirit is hollering, “hold up; this accessory isn’t supported,” every time we try to make stuff fit into us that we know doesn’t mesh well with our innermost parts. That’s like eating something you know isn’t going to agree with your stomach. Yea, it may feel good going in but it sure doesn’t coming out. Oh, I can imagine God saying, “that accessory doesn’t fit,” when we try to make worldly stuff fit into His word to appease folk. Baby, the word doesn’t change and we shouldn’t change it because folk’s feelings get hurt. The bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” If it offends you; say ouch, repent and do better.

Understand this, not everybody or everything is fit for you. Why do you think clothes and shoes come in different colors and sizes? Why do you think there is different variety of stuff to choose from? You have to know who or what is compatible to your spirit before you go allowing them or it to be plugged in. Don’t you know plugging anything into you can cause damage? Yea, you might short-circuit and then you’ll be walking around with a dim light. Or you might go dead completely and then you’ll be walking around here wandering without knowing who or whose you are. Beloved, if you don’t get anything else; get is this, not everything is going to fit in your spiritual life and as a Saint of God you should be okay with that. Be okay with declining that party invitation, be fine with not hanging out with them and be alright with not going there. This is your life and only you will be giving an account at judgment. Be careful who you allow to plug into your spirit because their accessory may not be supported!

Daily Devotional – 8/20/15 “Struggle equals strength”

I just thought I’d pick back up on yesterday’s devotional since somebody somewhere is contemplating suicide because the odds seem stacked against you. Yea, I thought I’d pick up where I left off because somebody needs to be reminded that this is not the end. Oh, you thought things would be easy, all the time? You thought it would be smooth sailing on this journey, everyday? Chile! Do you have a smooth ride every time you get in the car? Don’t you sometimes trip when you walk? Don’t you sometimes experience turbulence when you ride in an airplane? Does not a train jerk occasionally or a bus comes to a hard stop? My point is, no ride is always smooth and your Saintly journey is no different. Yet, we expect God to miraculously erase any bumps on our path. We got the audacity to get mad at Him we went come to a pothole on our way. We got the nerve to always want that bridge over burdens, a staircase to climb the mountain, a rope out of the valley and no reason to cry but baby; thangs aren’t going to be easy all the time!

If it was always easy for you to get out of mess, you’d stay messy. If you don’t struggle to get up after you’ve fallen, you might not appreciate the reason why you had to fall. If you don’t have to fight in the battle, how can you honestly appreciate the victory? If you don’t have to go through the sickness, how can you tell somebody you understand what it means to be well? I’ve shared this before but it fits here again … A butterfly starts as an egg, like we do. Then it’s born as a caterpillar and all it does is eat in order to grow, again like us as babies. Then it goes through a metamorphosis stage where it’s wrapped in a hard shell called a chrysalis. During this stage the outside shell looks the same but the changes are being made on the inside and once the transformation is done, the butterfly begins to come out of the shell. Now you need to get this … As it comes out of the shell, it struggles. The caterpillar has to struggle because the struggle causes the blood to pump into the wings to give them the strength needed to fly. (Did you get that?) Without the struggle, a butterfly can’t fly!

Oh, you might be struggling but it’s only because it’s pumping the necessary strength into the places needed to transition you to the next level. Don’t shortchange your struggle! Without your struggle, you’d have no strength!

Daily Devotional – 8/19/15 “A turbulent shift!”

When you are ready to work for the Lord, be ready because baby when you tell Him you are; He begins to open doors for you. This is why you have to be careful what you speak. The tongue has power to put you in positions you didn’t even think were possible but it’s when you’re ready. All you have to do is submit to the Lord and He’ll direct your path. However, please understand – don’t make a vow to the Lord if you aren’t ready because if you say you’re ready to work, He has work for you to do. Yea, you’ll look around and be amazed at how much differently your life has become, in a short matter of time. That’s because God doesn’t have to wait to elevate you. See, He knows what you’re capable of doing; He’s simply waiting on you to catch on. He knows what you are destined to be, He had to wait until you saw it in yourself. And now, things are beginning to take flight in your life. Yea, I know you felt the trembling but that’s just the turbulence during your transition. You may have even felt a little pressure but that was only because you were changing altitudes.

Please understand this; in the midst of change, chaos can happen but it’s a part of the process. Do you think the enemy will allow you to enjoy the benefits of being blessed without bothering you? Nope! But he cannot do anything without the permission of your Father. So, if you are experiencing a sudden change in your surroundings, it may be turbulent weather due to your impending elevation; don’t count it out just yet. Yes, it’s hard but everything worth having is worth working for. And if you are experiencing turbulence that means you’re moving, you’re being shifted, your position is changing, your elevation is at hand; deal with it for it’ll soon stop. Praise your way through it for it won’t last because soon you’ll see your destination ahead at victory! Yea, the turbulence may cause you to be shook, bumped around, knocked down or maybe thrown into some unfamiliar places but don’t let it scare you out of staying the course! Turbulence means shift and with God, a shift is always good!

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 1 Peter 4:12-13”

Daily Devotional – 8/18/15 “Be careful how you change!”

As I start, again, on this journey to be healthier; I can never see the change in my body when I begin to lose weight yet people can. Yea, I can notice the change in my clothes but when I look in the mirror, I still see me. And as I sat at my computer this morning contemplating what to blog about, it became apparent that sometimes when we make a change in our lives, we don’t necessarily see it right away … but people do. Now, please understand, this change can be good or bad; right or wrong. This change can also be one that we feel is right, at the time but it don’t necessarily mean that it is. Nevertheless, when a change is made, you don’t always see the change in you that others do. People say, you sure have changed and you’re thinking, no I haven’t. Or if the change was intentional, then you welcome the comment. However, what I need you to get out of this blog today is this – Be careful how you change because it reflects on the outside of you. Let me show you what I mean.

When you feel good on the inside, it reflects on the outside and you don’t even have to open your mouth. When you change your thought process from negative to positive, people notice and you won’t have to tell them a thing. When you go from being the class clown to now being about your business, people notice. You may not think there is a big change evident by the way you walk but there is. There’s even a glow about you because now your light is shining a little brighter. There’s even a quicker pep in your step because you heard your destiny calling and you’ve got to get to it. Oh but get this, when your attitude, on the inside is rude; it shows too. What? You didn’t think people could notice the fact your face is tore up because you didn’t sleep well last night? You don’t think we can see that you’re mad because your boo didn’t post you as his woman crush Wednesday or her man crush Monday? You don’t think people can notice your attitude when things don’t go your way or the fact that you think the world should revolve around you? Are you still wondering why people don’t want to hang out with you anymore? It may that attitude you rock. And please know this, not everybody who corrects you is your haters! They are simply trying to stop you from wrecking yourself before it’s too late. This is why you have to be careful how you change because it reflects on the outside of you. What’s on the inside shows on the outside.
