Daily Devotional – 3/31/16 “What are you hungry for?”

Have you ever eaten only to not be full afterwards? Ever been thirsty and nothing you drink satisfies it? Have you ever gotten to a point in your spiritual life that you thirst after something but can’t seem to find what it is? Well, beloved; I simply stopped by to tell you that you may be seeking the wrong thing to satisfy your taste. You’re seeking the bad boy when you know good and well he doesn’t satisfy your thirst. Why do you think none of those relationships have worked out? You’re hungry for a wife but you keep going back to the exes of your past when you ought to know, if they couldn’t satisfy you then, they won’t now. You’re hungry for that promotion but throwing someone else under the bus won’t get it for you. You’re thirsty for a financial blessing but let’s be honest, can you really handle it right now? You’re struggling spiritually, I mean not going to church struggling and it could be because you’re running from what God has called you to do all due to you thirsting after something else. Don’t you know by now that as long as you keep drinking and eating from the wrong cups and plates, you’ll never get full?

The bible says in Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” What do I mean? Well, righteousness is defined as the quality of being morally right or justifiable. In other words, blessed are those who hunger and thirst to do right, for they will be filled. So let me ask you … Is what you’re doing right? Are your activities acceptable? Or are you morals motivated by mess and your actions by anger? Are you hungry to do what is right or simply eating a quick meal of wrong? Are you thirsty enough to go the distance to drink that which is good or will you take the short trip and dip into what soothes you for the moment? I’m simply asking the questions. You can’t expect to get full off God’s goodness if you keep eating from the enemy’s table, can you? You have to change your eating and drinking habits. That’s if you seek to be filled. Don’t believe me? How do you lose weight? By eating what’s good for you. How can you help your skin remain healthy looking? By drinking water instead of sodas. How can you get right spiritually? By eating the nourishment of God’s word. It’s all up to you. You have to make the choice of what you put in your body; physically and spiritually. It’s your choice. But know this…The bible says in Proverbs 21:21 “He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” You get what you seek!
