Daily Devotional – 9/23/14 “Bounce Back!”

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed! (2 Corinthians 4:8-9) Chile that alone is a devotional in itself. Yea, God says you will have trouble on every side YET don’t worry because it can’t stop what I’ve placed in front of you. God says you may be perplexed or confused but that’s alright because you won’t be without hope. God says, yes they may persecute you, even scandalize your name but you won’t abandoned, cast down or forgotten neither destroyed. So what if you get pushed down, get up! So what if you fall, get up! Baby, you need to learn the weeble wobble dance. You know that game at the fair that no matter how hard you hit it, it never stays down. Well, you need to get like it because God made you with the same mechanism inside of you. Yea, you need to learn how to lean when things weigh you down but then bounce back up. I know you’re tired of getting knocked six steps back but baby rear back (that means you got knocked over) and then get up. When folk hurt you that’s just you being knocked down, bounce back up. When you get laid off that’s just you being knocked down, bounce back up. When you get sick and man says you can’t get well that’s just you being knocked down, bounce back up. When man says no that’s just you being knocked down, bounce back up. When that door closes, that’s just you being knocked down, bounce back up. Yes, it’s easy to stay down once you’ve been knocked down but oh the joy you feel when you get up is that unexplainable joy, that unspeakable joy you hear grandma singing about and that uncontainable joy you hear pastor preaching about but you have to get up to feel it.

Beloved listen, the bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” What is this jar of clay? It’s us. What is this treasure? It’s the light of God that shall not be dimmed. Are we troubled? Yes, mostly everyday but God is our refuge and our help if we try Him. Will your legs shake, yes but they won’t give out. Will you get knocked down again, probably but you still have that same mechanism built into you that allows you to bounce back. And get this … It’s never goes out, it never gets worn, it never rust, it never gets recalled and it never fails because the manufacturer never goes out of business! Try it and you’ll find that it works, EVERY TIME!

Synopsis:

Tia Simmons can’t wait to be Mrs. Charles Robinson. She has everything planned, from the venue to the caterer, making everything completely perfect. Or, so she thought. When she hires Camille to be her wedding coordinator, paranoia comes into play when she thinks her best friend is trying to sabotage her wedding. Along with the issues she’s having with Camille, she also has to deal with her new extended family, making her wonder if she’s going nuts. But when unexpected news shatters Tia’s world, she’s not sure if she should tell anyone about it or if she should keep it to herself until the wedding is over.

Charles Robinson is totally in love with Tia and would do anything for their special day. Whatever Tia wants, he’s in agreement with. Except hiring Camille as their wedding coordinator. When issues clash between the three, will it test their friendship? Along with the issues he’s having with the reappearance of his father and a brother who can’t be trusted, Charles has to wonder which is more important – trying to do the right thing or being happy.

Daily Devotional – 9/22/14 “God and faith!”

The reason you aren’t getting the blessing you’re standing in the need of is because you’re standing in your own way. Yea, you go before God, petitioning His throne with prayer yet in your heart you’ve already counted yourself out. Baby, if you don’t believe in yourself, who will? It’s almost like me fighting to prove you’re innocent when you’re walking around with a guilty sign tied around your neck. When will you believe in yourself? Let me tell you this, it says a lot for God to call your name when there are a million others just like you. It says a lot for God to choose you when He could have easily picked the person next to you. It didn’t have to be you that God ordained but He did. He didn’t have to be you God chose but He did. It didn’t even have to be you He gave that vision but He did and He made it plain just for you. Yet you’re second guessing and doubting. Even the trials you’re facing, you were chosen for that too. Read your bible. God chose Job because He knew Job’s faith would stand because God had faith in Job. Now think about what you’re going through. Why do you think God chose you? He didn’t do it because He wanted to pick you out to penalize you because of your past yet He pointed you out to position your purpose. (“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” Jeremiah 1:5) God hasn’t chosen you for that sickness because He needs folk to see you struggling yet He needs those who doubt His healing to see it manifested through you. God hasn’t chosen you to struggle through the daily strains of life just because He felt like it but He did it simply to show folk who doubt the ability of His strength to see if revealed through a regular person like you who make it look easy. God didn’t choose you to Pastor that church because He wanted you to walk about in defeat like others before yet He chose you because He wanted the naysayers to see His work being done and it could only be done through you. (For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11)

All I am saying is, don’t count yourself out because it’s easier than counting yourself in. Believe in the faith that God has given you. It won’t steer you wrong. Place God and faith back in your heart and allow them to lead you to the places you belong. No matter what you’re facing… God is all you need AND you’ll find the answer in Him and His word!

Daily Devotional – 9/18/14 “Life happens!”

I almost got carried away with work and forgot to post a devotional today. Isn’t that something? I almost forgot, literally got caught up, got busy, got sidetracked and it almost slipped my mind that I hadn’t even posted a devotional today. And yet it happens. Things happen. It’s the same way with trying to be holy, Christian, sanctified and all that. Yep, I said it; you don’t have too. You don’t have to admit it because I will. I don’t tell God thank you every morning. I don’t pray every day. I don’t say grace before every meal. I don’t say my prayers every night. I don’t feel like encouraging folk all the time. Shoot, life happens to me too. I’m just keeping it real. I don’t have joy all the time. I don’t feel like smiling at you every time you see me. I don’t have a word for you every day because life gets at me too yet I have to keep going. Why? Well because I don’t have an option to give up. When God called me, He didn’t give me an option because He could have easily left me alone but He didn’t, He cultivated this gift within me. How? By giving me the chance to use it freely every day and it touches people every day. This is why I can’t and won’t stop. I am not perfect but every day I am striving to be better because I striving to be an example of God. Yes, life happens but things also happen because of life.

Yes, I know sometimes you feel like giving up but that’s just the enemy making you feel like giving up is easier than holding on. I know you may feel like suicide is the answer but it isn’t, ask me the question again and I’ll give you a different answer. That sickness that you’re dealing with, I don’t know how you feel and you may be tired of hearing God is a healer but I’ve seen Him work in others, all you have to do is believe He’ll do it for you. Your finances falling short; have you made a plan to get back on track? Do you believe you can? Your home isn’t happy? Cleanse it from the inside out making God the head and then allow everything else to fall in line like it should. Are you suffering? Cleanse yourself from the inside out allowing God to be the head allowing everything else to fall in line like it should. For Ephesians 5:1-2 says, “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Life happens but you don’t have to suffer for it. Be an imitator of God and follow His example and believe that things will work out for you and they will. Will this life always be good no but it won’t always be bad either for when I sit down and count it out, weigh my options and look back over my life the good always outweigh the bad! Life happens but Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life!” #Thatsenough
