Daily Devotional – 11/6/17 “Mirror, mirror!”

“Mirror, mirror I see; what would my reflection show if you were to know the dark parts of me?”

If you could no longer hide the scars, the tear stains and the secrets of your heart; what would your reflection show? If you could no longer hide the molestation and abuse, what would your reflection show? If you had to own up to the truth of your addictions, what would your reflection show? If covering up the many one night stands or empty relationships were no longer an option, what would your reflection show? If for one day, all of your skeletons were on display, what would your reflection show? Hard questions, I know but if we can be honest for a moment; a lot of us toil with these thoughts every day. What if they knew this about me? What if they find out about my past? What if they knew my daily sin? Well, what if they did? What if they knew? So what if “they” happen to have an opinion. To hell with those overly religious, shade throwing, filthy mouth judgers; they don’t have a heaven or hell to put you in. Oh, they can make your life hellish on earth but why let them.

You do realize that those “they” folk have a past too, right? Oh, they are still sinning too and the only reason they are bold enough to call you out on yours is because nobody has been bold enough to call them out on theirs. But they aren’t even worth that because the truth of the matter is, God could, at any moment, expose any of us. However, here is where you shout, God says to us just as He did to Israel in Isaiah 43:25, “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” Beloved, God doesn’t forgive and forget because of us, we ain’t all that, but He does because of Him. Neither does God wipe our slate clean simply because He doesn’t have anything else to do but He does it for what He will have us to do. This is why He’ll pick us up each time we fall. This is why He will forgive us even when we do what we promised Him we would not do again. It isn’t for you but it’s because of what God has already placed in you. So the question now is, when will you return to God and give Him all of you? Baby, He already knows your secrets and He still counts you savable. He already knows your transgressions and still calls you His treasure. God knows what you did last night and He still counted in the number to wake up this morning.

Daily Devotional – October 30 – November 3, 2017

To each of you who are faithful to Kisha’s Daily Devotional,

I am taking this week for prayer, fasting and consecration. During this week I will not be sharing any devotionals nor will I be on social media. I know, in order for me to properly share with you the word of God, I have to spend time fasting and praying. As we all should. I cannot be effective in my calling, without taking times of pure devotion with Him.

This week, spend some time with God. Whether it’s in secret prayer, fasting or reading your bible 30 more minutes than normal.

It is my hope, in the meantime, you will find all that I have shared in the last years to keep you encouraged until I return on Monday, November 6, 2017. If you need to reach me for prayer request, speaking engagements, etc. you can do so via email at authorlakisha@gmail.com or via Facebook messenger.

Be blessed and encouraged to step out on faith.
Kisha

“The LORD utters his voice before his army, for his camp is exceedingly great; he who executes his word is powerful. For the day of the LORD is great and very awesome; who can endure it? “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.” — Joel 2:11-13

Daily Devotional – 10/27/17 “Authorized personnel only!”

During annual healthcare enrollment, here at work, there is a wellbeing survey that can be taken to have extra money added to the HRA account. Each spouse can do it, independently. I’ve completed mine but my husband’s account has to be reset so I called. Unfortunately, the rep said, we will need to speak with him and he can add you as an authorized user. As I prepared to send him a text with all the information, my thoughts shifted and I began thinking … how many folks are making changes to your life and they aren’t even authorized users? Think about it for a moment and honestly ask yourself this question because you may just have to face a harsh reality. Yes, I know they make you feel good but are they worthy of authorization? Yes, they can slide you a few bucks to get your hair done but are they worthy of holding a position of authority? Yes, the times they do show up, they show up but can they handle the responsibility of being an authorized user?

Look, if you don’t trust them enough to give them access to the Regions, AT&T or Comcast account neither will they be called in the case of emergency, why in the ‘hello’ are they privy to your stuff? Beloved, you have to stop giving temporary folk, permanent folk privileges. And you have to stop giving folk the power of authority when all they are capable of handling is the job of consulting. You do realize consultants have a contract that comes to an end, right? What I am saying is this, be mindful of those who’ve you listed as authorized users on your account of life because they may just make changes you are not ready for or can handle. As a matter of fact, they may even make changes they had no business and/or sound mind to be making in the first place. This is why you may have to tell folk, “This is a restricted area only accessible by authorized personnel,” because the bible says, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” – Proverbs 4:23

Daily Devotional – 10/26/17 “Your key, my key!”

I was looking at the keys I have attached to my badge lanyard. There is one for my overhead and desk that holds my computer and such and there is one for a cabinet that holds other stuff. Anyway, while looking at these keys, I compared them. I pressed them together and looking from one side, they look exactly alike but when I turned them over, I noticed how differently their grooves where. Which meant, the key that works for one, will not work for the other. Yes, the one for the cabinet can fit into the desk but it will not turn. You know this already, right? But have you ever stopped to realize, we each hold a key and no matter how alike they look when compared, yours will not open what I’m meant too? I don’t care how well you think you can walk in my shoes, your key will not open the door to my destiny. Yes, you can talk about me but your key still cannot unlock the elevator to my elevation. You can even try to sabotage my promotion but you still cannot open what is rightfully mine.

When Cinderella’s evil stepmother tried to block her access to the prince, she couldn’t no matter what she tried. You know the story but I’ll tell it. Her evil stepmother could not block Cinderella because the shoe would only fit Cinderella’s foot. So tell me again why you’re arguing with folk over your stuff? Explain to me again why you’re trying to prove to folk your place. Beloved, sometimes you just need to hush and realize, even though their key may slide into your lock, it still will not open it. Yes, our keys may look the same when compared but baby, my key is for me and yours is for you. How do I know? Well the bible tells me so. For it was God who knitted the intricate part of us before momma and daddy hooked up. Before we started to grow, He’d already written the plans for our life. Before our tongue was formed, He’d already placed words for us to speak. Before our heartbeat could be heard, God had already woven the scars He knew would form. For the bible says in Psalm 139:16, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Your key, my key!

Daily Devotional – 10/25/17 “The enemy owes me!”

Hypothetical scenario … Someone breaks into your car and steals your cell phone and wallet or someone breaks into your home and steals all your TVs, computer and tablet. Do you go searching for the thief or do you file a police report and make a claim with the insurance company? I would think the latter because you may not be able to recover what was stolen but you sure can cash the claim check, right? What’s my point? God says the only reason we’ve yet to recoup, from our loss, is because we’ve been too busy looking for the enemy who stole it instead of filing a claim. Who am I talking too? Because I am still feeling like Isaiah, proclaiming this is the year you shall see God’s favor. Who am I speaking too? Because I am declaring God’s anger against your enemy. So you can stop looking for the thief who stole the beats from your heart, file a claim with God who can replace it. Stop looking for the one who stole your joy, file a claim with God who can restore it. Stop looking for the one who stole your peace, file a claim with God who can refill it.

Yes, I know we are so used to saying, “I’m coming for everything the enemy stole,” or “I’m taking back everything the devil stole from me,” but today my war cry is different. Today, my prayer has changed. Today, my declaration becomes specific. For today, I am no longer looking for what the enemy stole but I am waiting for God to make him repay me seven times more than it is worth. Because my bible tells me in Proverbs 6:30-31, “People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry, but if he is caught, he will pay sevenfold; he will give all the goods of his house.” Yea, he may have gotten in and stolen my stuff but he’ll have to come back and repay me for it. What’s my affirmation now? It’s simple, “I shall get everything the enemy owes me!” But this is only after God gives me permission to go get it. “Then David asked the LORD, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the LORD told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” – 1 Samuel 30:8
