Daily Devotional – 5/23/18 “You’re still hungry!”

Stop trying to fit in at tables that cannot accommodate your diet. DIET = Desires, Intelligence, Expectations and Taste. If you do, you take a chance of leaving still hungry. HUNGRY = Hurt, Uninformed, Neglected, Guarded, Rebellious and Yoked. Why? Because you’re sitting in places that cannot meet the needs of what you are yearning for. Think of it like going to a restaurant with a group of folk. You didn’t pick the place and it would have never been your choice but you’re trying to fit in. You get there, look over the menu and nothing is there you’ll eat, let alone try. But hey, you’re trying to fit in. You order an appetizer of something that sounds good, only to get it and it looks nothing like the picture or the description. Two hours later, you leave still hungry but there is nothing else open and you don’t have groceries at home. (Are you following me?) When you continually sit in places that cannot or do not meet your dietary needs, you are not satisfied. This is why you leave worship, on Sunday, dressed real nice but still filled with hell. This is why you look happy but inwardly you’re a mess. This might be the reason you cannot focus. You’re still hungry.

Get this though. It’s quite possible you’re sitting at the right table but ordering from the wrong menu. You’re ordering steak, from the adult menu, when you should be ordering mac and cheese from the kid’s because you’ve yet to grow up spiritually. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:2-3A, “I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly.” Don’t get mad at me, I’m just the messenger. But beloved, you need to figure out why you are still hungry. Are you sitting at the wrong table, eating the wrong thing or just plain stubborn? Why can’t you focus? Why can you not do what you know God’s has called you to do? Are you still hungry because you can’t get full or are you eating, getting temporarily satisfied only to be hungry minutes later?
