Daily Devotional – 1/22/14 “If?”

God is not a man who lives on if, don’t you know that? Then why do you keep saying, “If the Lord never does anything else for me, He’s done enough,” because we all know that’s a lie. Yea, I am appreciative, grateful, ecstatic and forever indebted to God for what He has already done in my life but I will never ask Him to stop. Don’t you know that when you use the word if, you’re actually showing doubt which means you really aren’t sure the person who you’re asking can do whatever it is you’re asking them for? When you say, “Lord, I want you to heal me, if it’s your will,” you’re really saying Lord, heal me if you can but hasn’t He already made His will plain? God is a healer, the only thing that is different about our healing is the time it’s actually done. God doesn’t work on if. In Mark 9:22, a father brings his son to Jesus to heal yet he says, “…But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” Oh but then Jesus makes it plain and simple in Mark 9:23 when He answers, “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” ANYTHING is possible if you believe. You see the difference in the way if is used in this sentence? That’s because if is only supposed to be used in conjunction with something else to let you know that this has to happen in order for that to happen.

Let me break this thang down for you! God says, you can have it if you ask for it but then we turn around and say, if you bless me. God says, it’s yours if you believe but then we say, if it’s your will. God says, you can move mountains if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed but then we say, if it’s my time. Baby, if it’s left up to you, you’ll never get out of your storm, get out of that valley, climb that mountain, stop crying, stop allowing yourself to be hurt, be delivered and set free and be made new in God’s likeness because you’re still living in a “if” moment but if you change your mindset, you’ll change your living. When Lazarus died, God had to make it known to Martha when they doubted His ability to raise the dead by reminding her in John 11:40, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” What will it take for you to believe this? God doesn’t work in “ifs” because all you have to do is trust Him to do what He says He’ll do but it’ll only work if you believe!

  1. God is above amazing!!!! I was talking to a spiritual sister today about using “when” instead of “if” as well as “and” instead of “or”… Praise God for the Holy Ghost and confirming His word through me, though you. I think I said that right lol Thank you!!!!!!
