Daily Devotional – 11/3/15 “Where’s the fellowship?”

How can we say we are ‘fellowshipping’ together if we aren’t on the same accord? Fellowshipping means we are gathering together with the same intent and purpose; a group of like-minded people coming together. Oh, you didn’t know that? Well, if we gather for a birthday party; everybody’s intent should be to celebrate whosoever birthday it is, right? It’s the same way with worship. If we all serve the same God, shouldn’t our intent be to worship Him during our fellowship? Shouldn’t our purpose be to follow Him, His teachings and give Him praise during our fellowship? If you aren’t doing that, when you fellowship, you need to rethink some things. Going to a building on Sunday doesn’t make you part of the fellowship if your intent isn’t the same as the others gathered. If the purpose of a church building is to worship God and you’re going there so that you can keep your status up, you are going for the wrong reason. If you are going into God’s house because you are the head of whatever board, you are going for the wrong reason. If you are going to God’s house simply because you are the one who counts the money yet you can’t be counted into fellowship, you are going for the wrong reason.

Fellowship

This is why Hebrews 10:25 says, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” How can you encourage me when we are on different pages or standing on uncommon ground? Chile, I can’t listen to you, in God’s house, especially if we don’t have the same intent to serve our God. Please understand, you can have your role (in God’s house) but don’t allow it to overshadow the reason why we fellowship. You can serve in your capacity but don’t allow it to dominate the purpose of the shepherd God has ordained and put in place to lead His sheep (if he or she is leading you in the right direction). Acts 2:42 says, “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer,” but how can we sit down to eat together when we are at odds? What happened to the fellowship? What happened to gathering together to worship God? What happened to going to church for deliverance instead of mess? What happened to following the pastor instead of our own agendas? What happened to helping one another? Where are the true Saints of God? Where is the fellowship among God’s people? Where’s the fellowship?

Daily Devotional – 11/2/15 “Critical Christians!”

I shared a devotional on Saturday, something I don’t normally do but I had to share my thoughts on Halloween. Please understand, everyone is entitled to their opinions but why do you have to bash folk over the head with your beliefs if you barely act like you believe them? You rarely attend church yet you want to tell folk how God will feel with what they’re doing. What about you? You want folk to feel bad about dressing up in costumes but what about those Sundays you dress up as a Christian? You know, when you go to worship with so much hell in you that folk don’t know whether to speak to you or pray over you. You claim you are concerned with folk playing with the enemy but what about those days you play with your devotion. We, as Saints of God, cannot pick and choose when we will serve God. You can’t be Holy when it counts and then hellish the rest of the time. It doesn’t work that way. Just because you feel a certain way, it doesn’t mean you criticize others for how they feel. They may not know. This is why you have to be mindful of how you talk and treat folk because you may be the one running them away from God instead of trying to save them.

No, I don’t get all dressed up in costumes but my nephew is a child and he enjoys it so I will do whatever I can, to do what he asks and if that means buying him a costume and taking him trick or treating, I’ll do it. That doesn’t negate the fact that I also teach him about God, take him to church on Sunday and tell him what’s right and wrong. Taking him out on Halloween didn’t stop me or him from worshipping on yesterday. So while you are turning your nose up at folk carving pumpkins, dressing up in costumes, decorating their houses, buying candy or trick or treating; why don’t you fix your light of God that seems to be dim? Ecclesiastes 7:16 says, “So don’t be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself?” Yes, I get it; you know the bible in and out, you’ve been in church all your life and you can probably preach better than the Pastor but that doesn’t give you the right to condemn others. You have the right to teach, love and admonish in righteousness but that doesn’t include your personal feelings. This is why the bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” We have a responsibility to help nature kingdom workers but it isn’t our job to prune them that belongs to God.

Daily Devotional – 10/31/15 “Hallow God”

Today is set aside to celebrate Halloween. Now, while some Christians are all up in arms about other Christians dressing up in costume; why don’t you worry about the days you “dress up” as a Christian. Yea, while you are concerned about folk playing on Halloween, when will you stop playing with what God has called you to be and do? A lot of folk are in costume every Sunday, playing a Saint but as soon as worship is over, you remove the mask.

Baby, check yourself before you put your mouth on folk. Yea, while we are concerned about Halloween, we really should stop and Hallow God. For hallow is defined as to make somebody or something holy or to have great respect or reverence for somebody or something. See, while you are worried about folk carving pumpkins, why don’t you reshape your attitude? While you are fussing over folk setting out candy, why don’t you set a better example for the those who look up to you. While you turning your nose up at the gathering of kids, why don’t you gather yours together for prayer every now and then? All I am saying is, while you’re worried about Halloween, worship and Hallow God!

Be blessed and if you’re going to be out, be careful!

I’m Lakisha, a preacher of God’s word who still, sometime, cuss, I still make mistakes, I still sin, sometimes; I stay up later than I should, I procrastinate on some things, when I get mad I shut down, I don’t like to argue, I have tattoos, I love preaching, teaching, going to worship service and studying God’s word, I absolutely love my family and friends and I write fiction books about sex. I’m not perfect but guess what … God still loves me! God still uses me! God still finds favor in me! God still deems me worthy! God still counts me as His! And I’m still blessed in spite of what man thinks! I know who I am!! #Godschosen

Be blessed!

Daily Devotional – 10/29/15 “Don’t stop praying!”

It doesn’t matter what your circumstance, situation, trial or tribulation is, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re in a good place right now, everything is going great, you have the job of your dreams, family acting as if they like you and you just got the blessing you’ve been waiting on, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re sick and the doctors looking grim, pain in your body is slowing you down, family member is sick, daddy or momma may be gone and you can’t seem to get relief, don’t stop praying! It doesn’t matter that you’re well now, that sickness has come and gone, headaches have stopped, blood pressure is down, heart has been regulated and all seems to be good, don’t stop praying! Whether you are in a good or bad place, don’t stop praying. Regardless if you’re having trouble at your place of worship or not, don’t stop praying. It doesn’t matter that folk are affecting your assignment, don’t stop praying. Whatever it is, don’t stop praying!

Why not? Because the bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing,” but you know that already don’t you? Then why aren’t you praying? You don’t have to fight when folk talk about, when they do you wrong, when they keep being messy; God got it, don’t stop praying! And if you don’t know how to pray, try this … You don’t need long drawn out words, rambling thoughts or even 30 minutes; you just need to converse with your Father for the bible says in Matthew 6:7-8, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” God already knows, we just need to petition His throne. And Matthew 6:9-13 says, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” KJV ends, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.” Don’t stop praying. Even if you can’t see what’s in front of you and you are scared to move; don’t stop praying.
