When the Israelites were finally released by Pharaoh, God could have taken them the shortest route to the Promised Land.
He didn’t though. Want to know why?
Because they would go through Philistine territory, their enemy, and God knew if they were faced with a battle that early on, they’d probably change their minds and return to Egypt. A place of bondage and hard labor.
Yes, God could have dealt with their enemy. He’s God. Yet, I believe the miracle at the Red Sea was an experience they needed to see to trust the power of God.
What if having to go the long route, to get to the promise, is for your good? What if the long way is God protecting you from the danger you don’t foresee? What if the long way builds your trust in God? What if you simply went without worrying about the details?
Will you go?
