Daily Devotional – 11/21/18 “Be thankful!”

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Somebody is asking, how can I be thankful when everything is happening to me? How can I be thankful when the death angel has shown up again. How can I possibly be thankful when I’m sick and it doesn’t look like I’ll get well? How can I be thankful when I don’t even have food to eat?

Here’s the answer and I pray you don’t take this the wrong way … Just be thankful!

Understand something. I never said be thankful for the good but I said be thankful. This means for everything. Why? Because it lets the enemy know, he didn’t succeed at what he set out to do. You might not have everything or even everybody but be thankful. You may be sick but be thankful for life. You might be temporarily out of funds but be thankful God still provides. Be thankful, regardless of your circumstance. Don’t complain this thanksgiving, just be thankful. Don’t cry yourself to sleep, just be thankful. Don’t wish for nothing but be thankful for everything for the bible shares in Philippians 4:6, “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.” When you do this, the scripture continues with Philippians 4:7, “Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.”
